Cedar Crest golf course has a long and proud history. It was designed by A.W. Tillinghast and received a facelift courtesy of D.A. Weibring/Golf Resources, Inc. It also played host to the 1927 PGA Championship and today the proud traditions and excellent course layout remain attractions for the thousands that take to its fairways each year. The tree-lined fairways and the greenside bunkers make it suitable for players of all skill levels – from beginners to the more experienced. It is a course that will reward accuracy by lower handicap players, but still provide just enough of a challenge to those who are new to the game to simply go out and have some fun.
In an effort to make the course as family-friendly as possible each of the tees has been designed to cater to family groups so that they can enjoy each other’s company no matter their ages or skill levels.
For those who want to sharpen their skills the club also has a natural grass driving range where experienced instructors are at hand to assist with all aspects of the game from improving driving distances to honing those all-important short approach shots.
In addition to its undoubted charms as one of the city’s most popular golf venues, the Cedar Crest golf course is also a favorite when it comes to hosting both business and social events. The Crestview Room with its vaulted ceilings and exposed wooden beams are perfect for discerning function organizers who want world-class banqueting facilities in a contemporary function venue. The private foyer and balcony overlooking the course can accommodate up to 175 guests.
The course also has a variety of packages that are perfect for corporate events or private celebrations. each of the packages includes a private Pavillion, access to the driving range (with unlimited balls), coolers with bottled water on the course, tables, chairs, linens, and much more.
There is a great pro shop in the clubhouse – and a visit to the clubhouse after 18 holes will be rewarded with an ice-cold beer and some excellent light meals.
If you are in Dallas and are on the lookout for a municipal course that has been maintained to the highest standards then a visit to Cedar Crest will prove rewarding. The course itself with its sometimes hilly layout will provide both a challenge and a fun day out. The oldest golf course in Dallas continues to deliver in line with its proud history.
