The Perot Museum Of Nature and Science is one of those attractions that is equally fun and educational for both young and old. The younger members of the family will be amazed at the interactive exhibits covering a multitude of subjects. This 180,000 square foot museum in no way resembles the museums of only a generation ago. Instead of exhibits behind glass and a struct ‘hands off’ policy, this Dallas attraction entices visitors with exhibits that fascinate, entertain, and educate.
The museum is only a few blocks north of the Dallas World Aquarium and a day spent exploring these two attractions is well worth the effort. The museum consists of 11 halls that house a multitude of exhibits that cover an amazing spectrum of different subjects. The ‘Discovering Life Hall’ is one of the most popular. Here visitors get an insight into living things – from the smallest (bacteria) to the way that ecosystems operate. The kids will love the interactive games and the fossils, while the taxidermy specimens and 3D animations supplement the educational potential of this hall through immersive experiences.
Adding to the fun for the very youngest members of the family is the Moody Family Children’s Museum. This is a museum experience that has been specifically designed for children under the age of 5. Here they can enjoy an indoor nature hike, have fun at the little people’s farmer’s market, enjoy the wonders of the water play table, and get some great exercise simply exploring the many attractions that beg to be crawled over (and under and through) and enjoyed.
For both young and old the T. Boone Pickens Life Now and Then Hall will be one of the highlights of the visit. Children will love the fossils of dinosaurs and the opportunity to explore what life was like when these prehistoric mega-beasts roamed the Earth. The Paleo Lab provides a look into just how paleontologists are researching life all those millions of years ago. Visitors can watch as fossils are prepared for exhibit and get an insight into the painstaking work that goes into bringing the wonders of the dinosaur era to modern audiences.
But there is much more to explore, including the beauty of rare gems and minerals, exploring the mysteries of the universe, exploring the wonders of the human body and mind, and the magnificence of our every active Earth.
The Perot Museum Of Nature and Science is one of the most popular attractions in Dallas. After only a few minutes of exploration, you’ll realize why it captures the imagination of so many visitors.
